What I did today

I was supposed to be shooting an adorable little girl today but unfortunately she sprained her ankle (hoping she heals quickly!)

...so I went out and shot horses instead. I particularly like this shot of a white horse so I thought I would share it with you all :)

Hope you enjoy!

I promise

I won't keep asking you to support worthy causes...this one however is near and dear to my heart.

Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep is in the process of their annual pledge drive. Please if you have the means to do so consider making a donation to this wonderful organization.

2008 annual fund drive header

With the Month of October being recognized as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, The Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep Foundation holds its Annual Fund Drive for six weeks starting in mid-September and ending in October.

President Ronald Reagan enacted Proclamation 5890 in October of 1988 to recognize that each year, approximately a million pregnancies in the United States alone end in miscarriage, stillbirth, or the death of a newborn child. Reagan stated, "A national observance offers us the opportunity to increase our understanding of the great tragedy involved in the deaths of unborn or newborn babies. It also enables us to consider how, as individuals and communities, we can meet the needs of bereaved parents and family members... " To read the full Proclamation signed by Reagan, CLICK HERE.

If you are in a place to make even a small contribution to NILMDTS, please know that doing so will continue to allow the organization to provide improved resources, training, communication, and other tools necessary in support of our amazing contingent of professional photographers who provide the gift of free remembrance portraiture to families in need.

Our next project we are working on is an online, interactive webinar version of our Formal NILMDTS Training taught by Co-Founder Sandy Puc' allowing anyone in any country with access to a computer to complete the course online. Donations help make programs like this a reality!

A little shout out

for some bows that are so adorable!

My friend Shannon makes these incredible bows that are completely folded by hand, feature heat sealed ribbon edges for longer lasting wear, and are created in a smoke free studio.

Incredibly delicious looking too - and the best part? She does giveaways! So head on over to her blog and leave a comment to win!

Right now she is featuring a "little sister" bowband and soon she will be offering up a Grinch bow for the upcoming holiday season. If you have a minute take a look - she does GORGEOUS work!

Buy shoes save lives

I was recently contacted about one of my photos - a charity called The Preemptive Love Coalition would like to use my "pinwheel" photo.

This charity raises money to help Iraqi children have life saving surgeries. 45%-65% of the cost of the shoes - in other words 100% of the profits they are selling goes directly to this cause.

I think it's a worthy cause so I donated a web sized image and decided to blog about it and hopefully spread the word about the charity a bit.

It was the least I could do. What a better world this could be if everyone just did the least they could do.

Obviously it would be wonderful if everyone did the MOST they could do - but think about the change that could happen if everyone made the tiniest effort....

say a little prayer

It's a big day here today & it has nothing to do with photography. . . Okay maybe a little bit because here's where I will remind you all to capture these moments with your children. My girl got her drivers license today...two whole hours ago and she's already out with the car.

She's pretty amazing don't you think?

Go take a picture of something YOUR child is doing today! It goes by way too fast.
